Sometimes change is good

Sometimes change is good. A closer look at our Littleton, MA project

This newer home was built on farmland that had been in the family for years. This colonial was in need of a kitchen facelift. The original kitchen was light oak with a peninsula dividing the eating area and the kitchen. There was a soffit over the wall cabinets that, unknown to us hid pipes and wiring. The refrigerator wall was not being utilized properly and there was plenty of room for storage. Our client was looking forward to make some needed changes to her home.

Our Solution:

We proposed to replace the peninsula with a 10’x3-6” island with seating for large gatherings. We designed a kitchen with taller wall cabinets that required the removal of the unattractive soffit. We added a tall oven cabinet and pantry cabinet on either side of the fridge with glass door cabinets and extra granite countertops.

Products we used:

We decided on two tone kitchen cabinets from Shiloh Cabinetry. The perimeter is in painted maple in eggshell white with nickel glaze. The island is in cherry with an auburn dark stain with beautiful posts to make it look like a table rather than another bank of cabinets. The inset style cabinets include all the accessories from pullout pantries on either side of the cooktop, a mixer shelf in the island and double bin trash cabinet for easy recycling. We selected beautiful White Spring granite for the countertops, dark brown textured 13 x 13 porcelain tiles for the floor installed on the diagonal. The backsplash is a simple crackled finish, 4×4 handmade ceramic tiles with a simple accent color and border.

Oh, wait there is more!

Our client was so happy with the kitchen, that she added other rooms. We renovated her powder room, finished her master bath (which was not completed when they built the house) and remodeled the guest bath too.

There is still more

We were about to wrap things up when we were approached again by our client to design and install cabinetry for an entertainment center in the family room. We tease our client that she should purchase another home, since we ran out of rooms to renovate for her!

Life goes on

Months after the project was completed we went back for a game night. The center island was the perfect place for it. Everyone gathered around it. Life has gotten much easier since the renovation. Our client was blessed with a grandchild and the new family room is the perfect play room for the little boy.
